DryCASE to be at Dockside 25th Anniversary

Dry Corp will be joining Dockside to help celebrate their 25th Anniversary on September 26, 2009. Dockside will also be hosting the first annual Southeast Stand Up Paddleboarding Championship, a benefit for the Cape Fear Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, along with other fun activities throughout the day. The event will also have two live bands from the Wilmington area.

Come check out Dry Corp’s latest product, DryCASE, which will be offered at a special price. We will have a table set up at the event. A portion of the DryCASE sales will go to the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a foundation that is near to our hearts.

Now you really can bring your cell phone everywhere with you, including the ocean. A local company says it’s found a way to call home from the water.

Wilmington based company Dry Corp develops medical equipment like this rubber vacuum seal you can put over a cast so you can swim with a broken arm.

Now, they’ve come up with a waterproof case for your i-Pod or cell phone.

“It allows you to use the touch screen, take and make calls, text message, e-mail, it’s also clear on both sides so you can take pictures through it if you’re using a camera or a camera phone,” said co-creator Corey Heim.

What keeps your electronics dry is the vacuum seal, once you pump all the air out, it’s safe to put it in the water.

A removable lanyard and armband keep it attached during physical activity. Waterproof headphones allow you to listen to music or make a phone call.

But not everyone’s convinced…

“I think I would be a little nervous about putting it in a bag and putting it in the water,” said Yvonne Griffin.

Eric howland hit the surf to give it a try. “If you had both earphones in you couldn’t really hear what was going on around you so it might not be good to be dropping in on people, people wouldn’t really hear you.”

If you have a blackberry, you can’t control the mouse inside the bag, but for people like McClean Seward, the dry case is a lifesaver. “I’m always on the water, I work on the water, use it for my I-Phone, digital camera, it’s great for kayak fishing, everything like that, you never have to worry about getting it wet.”

The dry case costs $35. The waterproof headphones are separate; they’re about $23, so you’re looking at about $60 for both.

Dry Case is the best iPhone accessory hands down! Now I can take my iPhone anywhere thanks to the 100% Waterproof Vacuum Seal. And with the included buoyant armband I won’t ever have to worry about my iPhone sinking. Thanks Dry Case!

I was on vacation in Isla Mujeres, Mexico and my brother decided to try scuba diving. The scuba dive company want an extra $50 for a video and photos of my brother scuba diving. I just used my water proof case to take photos and video of him!

DryCASE Donates to Surfers Healing

Dry Corp recently donated numerous DryCASE to Surfers Healing, a nonprofit organization that assists children with autism. Surfers Healing travels the country hosting free surf camps for autistic children. The children spend a day splashing around in the ocean learning how to surf, with the help of volunteers. Surfers Healing provides all the gear needed and even offers complimentary food and drinks for the entire family.

Surfers Healing was founded by Israel and Danielle Paskowitz after they spent the day surfing with their son Isaiah, who was diagnosed with autism when he was three. The ocean seemed to give him a break from the sensory overload he usually suffered from and they decided they wanted to share the calming effect of surfing with other autistic children.

Dry Corp is proud to donate to such an inspiring and helpful organization.
